i'll bring a tear when the smoke gets in your eye...

there are artists that i like because i feel like i should. then there are ones that i like at first listen.

elvis costello.
i've been passively listening to him for a good three or four years now. his music just came up at various points in my life before. i finally got his "very best of" album.

why more people didn't force his music on me, i don't know.
if you haven't ever listened to him, this is me forcing you to.

"a madness shared by two"

it's here
it's finally here
i'll try my best not to flail at everyone i see about it
i can't guarantee anything though
i'm too excited

i'm a slave to the sign...

Forgive Durden's Razia's Shadow: A Musical
If you haven't heard this album, listen to it.
It is brilliant.
And I don't throw that word around for just anything.
This is a big damn deal.

STOKED, son.

I don't know if you can see this very well. I'll check after posting and change it if need be.

I found this on Nicholas Scimeca's blog.
If we're being honest,
this is EXACTLY what I'm most excited about with the new administration.
This picture makes me happier than words can describe.

Guys, this is big. Huge even.

[credit msnbc]
I am so sad that I ended up falling asleep before it was officially announced.
But we did it.
Good work, America.
YES, WE CAN.

But what no one will realize, is that it isn't quite over yet.
We voted for change,
but nothing will change if we don't help it along.

Also, what the heck California?
Prop 8? Really?
Why?
I'm surprised at you.

Just so we're all aware...This is a huge entry.

Just so everyone is aware, for the next month, I'm going to be partaking in a few endeavors. Hopefully me telling you about this will help everyone to understand if I become very irritable over the course of November.

First of all, the semester is well under way and I've got madd projects and tests going on. Right up until the second week in December, when finals are over. Right now, I've got to be studying for my Abnormal Psychology exam on Tuesday. I also have a Social Psychology test on Thursday and I think a Personality Psychology test within the next week or two also. Meanwhile, I'm working hard on my final paper for my sociology research class, collecting information via interviews and observations (which, incase you don't know, takes a LOT of time to actually do--they take between an hour and an hour and a half to physically do and then an extra 3-4 hours to type everything up). I'm pretty sure that our second Native American Studies paper is going to be assigned soon too. I've also got two extra credit papers to do for Abnormal and Personality Psych classes. I wanted to take part in a research study for Social Psych as extra credit too, but I don't know if I'll actually have time now. We shall see.

The semester for UU is coming to a close soon, but that doesn't mean I'm not doing things with it still. Elections are coming up and I'm hoping to get a position on the E-board for next semester. There's also lots of marketing research to do for future semesters, and I'll probably be helping with that.

I've got things to do for the magazine being that now I'm not only Public Relations Director, but also Editor-In-Chief (oh, I didn't mention that before, did I? Well, yeah. I'm EIC now. Hi.). We're in the middle of a total site rejuvination, so there's a lot to do.

Starting November 1st, I'm going to be taking part in NaNoWriMo for the second year in a row. It's a writing competition where you have 30 days to write a 50,000 word novel. This means that for at least two hours a day (more likely to be two and a half to three hours a day), I'll have to be writing my novel. It should be fun, and hopefully I'll actually finish this year (last year I got to about 8500 words and couldn't do it anymore.

Around the end of November, I have two shows to go to. Bill and Trav's Bogus Journey Tour (The Academy Is..., We The Kings, Carolina Liar, and Hey Monday) comes to Buffalo, NY on November 23rd. I'm spending the weekend (instead of writing for NaNo...don't worry, I hope to spend a significant amount of time writing before I go) at Jess's apartment in Dunkirk and going to the show with her and Mary. Also, The Sassy Back Tour (Cobra Starship, Forever the Sickest Kids, Sing it Loud and Hit the Lights) is coming to Clifton Park, NY on November 30th. I'm going to that with Taylor and Mary. I've missed all of The Academy Is..., We the Kings, and Cobra Starship so much. It's been almost a whole year, I think, since I've seen the TAI boys. And a good 6 and 7 months since I've seen We the Kings and Cobra Starship respectively. I miss them very much.

I realize this entry is massive, in comparison to the rest of them, but when there's something I want to say, I'll say it. *nods* yes.

In other news, I carved a pretty sweet pumpkin on wednesday. I have taken pictures, but I'll post them later today, when I'm not so tired. I woke up really early today to help Taylor do her hair and make up for her Halloween Costume. She's being Amy Winehouse this year. I'll post pictures later today also. Now, I'm going back to bed.

purple rain, purple rain.

"I had a lovers quarrel with the world." - Robert Frost

I decided that I need to read more Robert Frost. From what I've heard of him, he was a very amazing person. And a very talented writer too.

it's 2:32pm and i want a nap.

Okay, so this idea wasn't my own, but I loved it and I wanted to do it anyways.

At the same exact time, I sent a text message to a few of my good friends. It said only, "How are you feeling right now at this exact moment?" These are some of the replies I got:

"Down. You?" -JJ.

"Confused." -Rosie.

"Extremely happy because I was thinking about texting you yesterday and you read my mind. And you darling?" -Celesta.

"Completely overrun by caffeine, pretending to be optimistic and kinda wishing i hadn't bothered getting out of bed this morning." -Alexis.

"Alright could be better but i'm fine." -Yellow Sean.

"I'm feeling ecstatic!" -Ryan.

"Mad that it's snowing and my feet are cold lol" -Emily.

"Rushed." -Jess.

"Slightly tired and nervous." -Lindsay.

I find that it's very rarely that people not only stop to ask, but also stop long enough to actually listen for an answer. We run into all sorts of people and this is just another example of that.

Not to be left out, I love my friends very very much.

All their personalities range so differently from one another, but in some weird way, they're so similar without even realizing it. Or perhaps it's more that some of them refuse to realize it.

the battle of light and dark

close the closet door tonight. you know, just incase.

I've been cooking this idea up in my little mind for the past couple months.
Just finally got around to putting it into fabrication.
Allow me to introduce you to one familiar face,
and two new friends.

You know Frankenstein.

Meet Dracula. The second addition to the family.

This here is Wolfie. The baby in this trio.

The inspiration is "Brains, Blood and Souls."
This explains why each of them have their respective word written on them. Incase you can't read it, Drac has the word Blood written down the side. Please excuse the largeness of the pictures, it's the best way I could show you these.

also, plz2b ignoring the fuzzy palm tree wallpaper i have in my room, thx. it's weird, yes, but it gives my room character.

and be blinded by the sun.

I literally could not stop laughing at this.
I was laughing so hard I was crying.
No joke.
Funniest thing I've seen in the past couple days.

my minds a blank page

have you ever had a word or phrase
that you just couldn't stop saying or thinking?
i've been obsessed with saying this outloud.
just for the mere fact that it's french.

folie a deux is literally translated to "crazy to two"
or a madness shared by two.
it's a psychological phenomenon.
wikipedia that stuff up.
it's really interesting.

currently working on a few surprises.
sort of excited about them.
we'll see when they're finished.

They shake maracas....I go bananas.

The result of three weeks of hard, hard work between the five of us.
I love these four so much.
I couldn't have asked for better back up dancers.

In fact, I couldn't have asked for a better cast.
Everyone from my enemy to mi amour.
I love these kids more than life itself.
And I know I say that a lot, but I really really do.
Now I leave the Tropicana to my memories.
Hopefully we can one day return to them, though.

The hottest spot north of Havana...

Poster created by the wonderful Emily Dwyer.
It's finally here.
The show is finally finished and ready for the world to see.

I want to take this moment to apologize to anyone that I've talked to in the past four weeks who isn't involved with Copacabana. Because I've been near literally living and breathing this musical, it's all I've been thinking about and all I know as of late. So I'm sorry if all I talk about is the Copa. I love this show more than anything. But I promise I'll be back to my normal self soon.

If you're in the general central new york area on friday or saturday come see the show.
The entire cast, crew and pit has worked SO hard on this and it's really shows.
This is one incredibly talented group of people.
And I love these kids--every stinkin last one of them.

one more time.

I was researching vintage clothing for inspiration on costume designs for Copacabana and I somehow came across clothing from the 1970s. I saw the lady on this one and immediately busted a gut laughing.

For those of you who don't know who Ryan Ross is, allow me to introduce him below:
Ladies and Gentlemen, Ryan Ross [foreground] and one of his many floral shirts.
What a dorkface.
Love that guy though.
Hah.

and never dreams that something might be coming...

There was a period of about 15 minutes that I couldn't even look at this comic because I couldn't stop laughing. I'm quite the advocate for saying thing at the most inappropriate times, so it only makes sense.

roflcopter

I found this online somewhere.
It made me LOLIRL (that's "laugh out loud in real life," for all of you who don't frequently chatspeak).
Good times.

Meanwhile, I'm doing about 4500 things at once.
Or so it seems to me.
More on that subject when I get a moment to breathe.

where no one notices the contrast of white on white...

this was on a decorative towel thing in the casino i was at today.
its weird how the littlest things can have the biggest impact.
it really got me thinking.
i shouldn't be wasting my time looking for what i'm supposed to be
i should be making myself into something.

i won't lie, it took a lot of will power to stop myself from buying it
and thinking about it now,
i wonder if maybe i should have bought it.

her name was lola...

this is my heart and soul in the summer, to be honest.
i'm pimping it so effing hard partially because i'm really excited for it
but also because i'm a little scared that no one will do it.
i want it to be the best it can be.
because we all know what the kids from this town can do in musical theater.

studying my own personal relations with each person in (or not even in) my life.
it's a complicated thing, really
perhaps not as much, though, as i think it is.

Thursday, June 5, 2008

i'm only good at being young...

it felt like the best choice.
i've wanted to read it for a long time anyways,
but it's especially fitting because i've been a mess this past week.
all over the very subject in this book.

i'm creating my own neverland in my mind.
i refuse to grow up.
i don't care how old i get.

Yes, we can.

Ten months ago, I remember having a conversation with my brother. He asked me who I support for the 2008 election and I replied with, "I have a feeling that, regardless of who I support, Barack Obama will be the next president." Luckily for me and my statement, I am already a Obama supporter and have been since before that conversation ten months ago.

With the help of Barack Obama, we will change the world. Together, yes, we can.

Friday, May 30, 2008

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Chuck Taylors is a good time. Guaranteed.

Wonder twins power...ACTIVATE!
Six days.
I think it'd be significantly beneficial if I didn't get so excited over this.
Because otherwise, I'm bound for dissapointment.

Without a doubt, our hearts will beat in separate rooms tonight...

I don't really care, Cash Colligan is still my favorite.
Ian Crawford is quickly becoming a close second though.
I seriously love those boys.

Film the world before it happens...

May 6th, 2008
Honda Civic Tour (part two)
[still] featuring:
Panic at the Disco
Motion City Soundtrack
the Hush Sound
Phantom Planet

Because just one night wasn't enough.
I'm so proud of these boys, I can't even put it into words.
Yet still it leaves me wanting more.
Not from them, but from my own life.

It still doesn't feel real to me.

we must reinvent love

May 3, 2008.
Honda Civic Tour '08
featuring:
Panic at the Disco
Motion City Soundtrack
The Hush Sound
Phantom Planet

Might be the best live show I've ever seen.
If not, it's a close second to We The Kings.

I might be able to die happy now.

[please don't steal my photography without giving credit]

All I ask is that you be there, when I return...

April 26th, 2008.

I'm going crazy and I've been awake for days...

I absolutely LOVE these guys.
I've known about them for almost a year and a half.
They were signed to Decaydance Records in...I wanna say June '07.
Their debut full-legnth album releases on Tuesday.
I'm totally stoked for it.

...my mirrors are stained with painted portraits of your face.

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

But who could love me? I am out of my mind...

I've heard it said before that clutter and disorganization is a sign of genius.
I don't know if I believe that or not, but not all of this is my doing.
Signs of a nerd, though:
-Accoustic Guitar owned since Christmas 2007 played only a handful of times
-Piano owned since 1998 and played everyday for 6 months then sparingly since then
-Guitar Hero owned since February 2008 played only a handful of times.
-Juno DVD owned since April 2008, never watched

Signs of a nerd, part deux:
-Baby Bop pillowcase owned since 1993; on bed since 2004
-Spongebob pillowcase owned since 2001; on bed periodically since 2005
-Imitation Wayfarer sunglasses owned since March 2008; worn everyday since then
-Musical shirt owned since April 2008, worn thrice.
-Fuzzy Burgundy Palm Tree Wallpaper owned since moving into house in 1997

twist it all up

Tyga Coconut Juice Music Video

I feel like I should put it up here because it's the cool thing to do.
The video's good.
The song is great.
I won't lie, I'm sort of excited to hear more of his stuff when the album comes out.
Boy's not too bad.
Ya dig?

This is what love looks like.

All aboard the special train.
This weekend has been exactly what I needed. Now I can try my best without hating everything. Thinking of you just might be enough.

Sunday, March 23, 2008

i cant prove this makes any sense, but i sure hope that it does...

i went to go see this guy speak the other day. it was quite possibly the best thing i've ever experienced. not only just experiencing bill nye in person, but being amongst a sea of nostalgia. as soon as he walked on stage you could just feel it seeping through the pores of every single college student and science teacher in that room. he wore the bowtie and everything.

it makes me miss my childhood.

Thursday, March 20, 2008

My minds been wandering back to it lately...

There will always be a place in my heart for you. Promise.

I have a secret, almost unspoken passion for photography, so please bear with me while I share some of my very favorites that I took during my recent trip to New York City.

It always helps when your best friend doubles as an artistic influence.

A little bit of sunlight can make everything that much more beautiful.

we must reinvent love

you're all going to love it. that is, if you know what real musicianship is.

on another note, it looks like things are gonna be just fine on the home front.

Sunday, March 16, 2008

this is MY world.

the start of something new. lets try it out. if it works, then great! if not, oh well; no skin off my back, really. these are things that i think are cool. feel free to put in your input, but i'm not counting it, to be honest.
